( there r many more cats monuments ard de whole capital..limin will luv dis place..haha )
2) there is a type of lychee/logans dat is called something-kuching..hence de name for de capital..

we proceed to de "City Tower"..de whole of Kuching can b seen there although de tower is only abt 4 storeys high.. ( rem my bro did took some photos there but think de deleted them..so no pix...)...
after dat we went to some pepper factory..we were told dat Sarawak's de largest pepper producer in de world..hmm......mummy bought some black n white pepper there ( lesson time : both came from de same tree..only de way they r processed is different..black pepper is taken out to dry in de sun once they r ripe n is much more spicer den white one, while de white ones was placed in water for abt 2 wks be4 they r sent for more processin.. )...besides pepper, de factory also sells bird nest n some other tonics..daddy spurged on de bird nest..heez..yummy yummy..n guess wat my bro bought?? ~~ Bottom: us!! ( do, rei, mi, fa...koe wat i mean?? haha ) ~~
yes..we went to de Sarawak Cultural Village..a muz-go place if u ever visit Sarawak..de entrance fee abt RM45 per person..quite worth it............
"Sarawak Cultural Village portrays "live" the state's rich cultural diversity in one single place. It is a 17 n half - acre sprawling expanse on the foothill of the legendary Mount Santubong fronting the South China Sea with 7 authentic ethnic houses built around a man-made lake."

~~ some shots of de houses taken @ de entrance ~~

~~ crossin de bamboo bridge to de houses ~~
~~ Top to Bottom: me & mummy, daddy, bro, n moi!! ( kk..i koe i looked funny..abit distorted..haha..cal..see my converse shoes..it's 'dis' pink only lah..haha ) ~~

~~ Bidayuh ~~
"The Bidayuh, accounting for 8.4% of Sarawak's population live mainly within the catchment of the Sarawak and Sadong rivers. Early European travellers gave them the name " Land Dayaks" because they live in the steep limestone mountains, near the washershed between West Sarawak in what was then Dutch Borneo.
Many of them live in longhouses, partly for protection, partly for access to pure, fresh water."

~~ Iban ~~
~~ Middle : me gettin into de house..haha ~~
"The Iban, once known as "Sea Dayaks", built their longhouses to last 15 to 20 yrs, or until the farm land in de surrounding area was exhausted. Then they packed up their goods and chattels and moved inland, upriver, along the coast, wherever fresh farm lands looked promising. About one-third of all Sarawakians are Iban: while some of them live in towns or individual houses, a large number still prefer longhouses."

~~ Penan ~~
~~ Bottom: dat's my bro tryin out de blowpipe..RM1 for 3 tries..haha ~~
"The shy nomadic people of the jungle, the Penans, live in the dense virgin jungles of Central Borneo, among some of the State's most valuable timber resources. Some are "coming out" and learning to farm the land, others still prefer their roaming life-style.
One of the Penan speciality is the manufacture and accurate use of blowpipes."

~~ Orang Ulu ~~
"Orang Ulu, "up-river dwellers", is a useful if vague term to describe the Central Borneo people living in Sarawak. Accounting for 5.5% of the total population, the Orang Ulu comprise the Penan, the Kayan and Kenyah, living in the middle and upper reaches of Sarawak's longest rivers, the Kelabit and Lun Bawang groups in the highlands proper.
In the past, the Orang Ulu were famous throughout the region as sword-smiths. Many of these people practice settled agriculture, and have developed rice field irrigation to a fine art."

~~ Melanau ~~
~~ 2nd pix: my parents looks as if they r goin thru a malay wedding ceremony rite..haha ~~
~~ 3rd pix: de ladies dancin for us when we enter de house ~~
"The Melanau people 5.8% of Sarawak's population now mostly living in the central costal region, were once more widely scattered. They traditionally lived near the sea within reach of the pirates. The Melanau built massive houses forty feet above the ground.
The Melanau differ from most other Borneo people in one important respect: they eat sago in preference to rice."

~~ Malays ~~
"The house of an urban Malay family is a gracious structure well adapted to the climate. Like all local houses, it was built of wood. The Brooke era brought lofty ideas on columns, stucco, and indoor plumbing. Since 1860s a few leading Malyas families commissioned professional builders, often Chinese, to construct their stately homes; a few which may still be seen in Datus Road in Kuching."
The last one is on de Chinese..but din tk pix of it..haha

~~ Cultural Dance performance ~~
~~ 1st pix: de thingy which de guy held wif his mouth is abt 20kg can ~~
~~ 2nd pix: de guy swingin on top is only usin his stomach for support *ouch* ~~

~~ Charles Brooke monument ~~
Charles Brooke was de 1st White Rajah of Kuching..he was actually juz a missionary when he 1st came here..during his stay, a revolution broke out among de chinese here..de sultan of borneo approached him to help settle de revolution..being a very celevr guy, he managed to crush de revolution using dipomatic ways n gradually earned de trust of de chinese..in return, he asked de sultan to give him a piece of land for which he will govern on behalf of de sultan..dat was how he became de 1st white rajah...........
went to a few more places be4 headin back to hotel..our tour guide came n picked us up @ abt 2pm to de Orang Utang Sanctuary...

~~ Orang Utangs ~~
~~ Last pix: he's Ritchie, de dominant male of de pack..he has dis scar on his head which, accordin to de guide, represents de leader of de pack..he is almost as tall as my bro (who's abt 1.85m), weighin abt 100kg (or pounds..dun rem) n can crack open a man's skull wif both hands..n he's only abt 8 feet away when i took dis shot..haha..scary..

~~ Pottery in de makin ~~
as it was still early after we left de sanctuary, de guide took us to dis pottery factory..accordin to him, Sarawak's also famous for pottery..erm..i'm not very into it though..haha..

finally went to de airport @ abt 7plus, board de plane @ 9pm..flight home only took 1hr 15mins..all dis while, i was practically glued to de window..de scenery is juz so beautiful can..especially when de plane is preparin for landin..de lightings of de land below is so pretty..it's like litle candles on de whole of S'pore..haha..dun really koe how to describe lah..touched down @10.15 n was backed home be4 11..
